A hotel TV software that offers an easy-to-use interface that allows guests to navigate through channels, access room service, and browse hotel amenities with ease.
The goal with Ocasa is to enhance the hotel television experience by providing an aesthetic and intuitive interface that is easy to navigate for guests. Unlike many hotel televisions with poorly designed software, Ocasa is designed to be user-friendly and efficient, allowing guests to access entertainment, room service, and hotel amenities with ease.
Below are some outlined problems that currently exist with hotel televisions, which can negatively impact guest experience in the room.
User research was conducted through online surveys distributed to previous hotel guests. The survey questions were designed to gather insights on their satisfaction levels, preferences, and pain points regarding hotel entertainment during their stay. The data collected enabled us to identify areas for improvement and understand guest behavior, such as their tendency to rely on streaming services on the television or use their mobile devices to stream. Overall, the survey provided valuable insights that informed improvements to the guest experience.
The above statistics bring to light three major pain points that guests have experienced during their hotel television experience. It was also noted in the survey that a majority of guests felt that a poor television experience diminished the premium quality of their hotel stay. This is an issue as it affects guest satisfaction, which is crucial in the hotel industry. Participants were also asked to rate their experience using hotel televisions, and as shown below, the sub-par results continue to emphasize the need for a streamlined experience.
By gathering insights from users and examining existing problems, valuable information was gained that helped to develop solutions that addressed the specific needs and preferences of hotel guests. These solutions will ultimately help to enhance experience and satisfaction when using a hotel entertainment system. Below are some key opportunities that were noted by solutioning existing problems.
As seen in the flow chart, it is clear that the dashboard will be the main focus for this challenge. In terms of navigation there are not many screens to design, but a path will have to be designed for the room service tab as well as the local hotspots. Hotel information will contain static information blocks and the streaming services as well as cable television will redirect the user to the necessary service.
Although Ocasa requires multiple screens, the dashboard is the central element and primary focus when looking at this challenge. It must incorporate all of the essential functions and offer a simple and user-friendly experience for guests. The success of the overall experience relies heavily on the design of the dashboard, which serves as the starting point for most users and often determines the resolution of any issues they may encounter. As observed from the user surveys, a majority of user pain points were flagged on dashboards.
As seen in the wireframe above, the goal was to consolidate all the main tasks a user may seek to accomplish in one screen. This interface solves many pain points and observed problems with preceding hotel television systems. This wireframe solves issues by;
Below are the remaining screens of the Ocasa system mocked up as wireframes. This gives an idea and a layout for these paths, and provides a simple navigation that is unlikely to cause user confusion and/or error. By preventing extremely layered navigation, it is improbable that users will feel lost in the system.
The wireframe was brought into a high fidelity design by following the initial layout and adding imagery. This dashboard provides a welcoming and premium feeling to the guest, while allowing them to access features with ease. As seen below, the scheme of the dashboard can be changed to match the identity of the hotel brand, ensuring a product that is consistent with its hotel.
